drive over degree / obstacles

From The Wall Street Journal...

IN THE LEAD, By Carol Hymowitz

The college diplomas of the nation's top CEOs tell an intriguing story: Getting to the corner office has more to do with drive than with a degree from a prestigious university.
"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal."

a sunny sunday afternoon at the ballpark...aka boston (still) sucks...

NEW YORK -- Under normal circumstances, losing three of four to the Red Sox in mid-September would have the potential to ruin the season for the Yankees.
Of course, these aren't normal circumstances.

New York dropped the day game 6-3 as well as the nightcap of the second in a row, day-night doubleheader, 5-4, as Boston swept the twin bill to win the final series of the year between the two rivals.

The Yankees still hold a 9 1/2-game division lead over the Sox with two weeks to play, so Sunday's sweep isn't likely to cause too much stress in New York's clubhouse. The Yankees' magic number to clinch their ninth straight AL East crown remains at four.

WHATEVER... We're still a bit bummed...
