Dude, I'll take 70-degree weather over the winter slush...

Flight arrived at 4:30am, got home around 5:30am, napped, showered, and got myself into work at a decent hour (for once, I was on time - woo hoo!).

Today's Cindy's mom's funeral, and I really feel like I should've been there. Things are dicey with the new job, which is why I didn't bother asking for an extra day off. I'm glad that I got a chance to spend Saturday with Lisa (she picked me up from Long Beach, and we drove out to the boonies - Llano, CA, to be exact - to visit Heather who just recently got out of the hospital). It was good to see her, even though her dad gave me a fairly racist lecture on how New York City sucks (don't ask, the man hasn't lived there in over 30+ years). I tried to stay awake for my dad's birthday party. A couple of aunties from the Philippines were there, and I hadn't seen them in years. Tita Aida gave me the usual batch of lovely samples from her company (fig lotion from Bendel's, some tanning lotion, and some Bath & Bodyworks stuff). My dad is hellbent on having me sing for him. Poor guy has this crazy notion that I can carry a tune. He's not only in love with his HDTV, but tack on his karaoke machine, to boot! Mom was fun - we had a good heart-to-heart talk, and it looks like the parents are househunting in Vegas, which leaves the house in the Valley up for grabs between me and Derek (will I ever move back to L.A.???). Sunday, I spent the afternoon hanging out with Matteo (who ever so kindly gave me the friggin' cd's I've been begging him to burn), then drove over to Dan and Mel's to meet their newest daughter. Kayla, their oldest, just loved showing me her Disney princess stuff! Mom and Dad drove me back up to Long Beach to catch my flight... and back to NYC I went.

Two day trips aren't enough... Still wish I was in Cali... I'll take 70-degree weather over the winter slush we've been having in New York the past few weeks. I forgot how beautiful California gets when it's bright and sunny...

home sweet home...

Between the friggin' snow and the bleeping problems with the A train, I'm very much looking forward to my quick jaunt this weekend to the San Fernando Valley... :-) My dad's bday is tomorrow, and it's also my parents' wedding anniversary. I get to go home, see some old friends, and chill with my folks' 55" screen HDTV.

EyeballKid: so what's your plans for the weekend?
Trizzy: i'm going to ask my parents if i can join them for dinner in palm springs but stay home
Trizzy: for the rest
Trizzy: after the snow this weekend, i'd really prefer to stay in the valley.
Trizzy: lisa's picking me up on friday night from long beach, i'm spending night at her place, then we're visiting heather on saturday morning (she's in the hospital now - back surgery)
Trizzy: what are your plans?
EyeballKid: cool. let me know. i'm visiting a friend in the hospital on saturday. weird. i was typing that when your message came up.
EyeballKid: and I'm supposed to meet some friends for dinner, on sat i think.
EyeballKid: we'll have to figure it out when you get here.
Trizzy: palm springs is off
Trizzy: on the phone with my dad
EyeballKid: ahh.
EyeballKid: when are you leaving on Sunday?
Trizzy: 8pm flight
EyeballKid: maybe we can hook up sometime sunday?
Trizzy: yup
EyeballKid: i don't mean that as in "hook up" like the young 'uns say it.
EyeballKid: being married and all.
Trizzy: yeah, i KNOW what you meant.
EyeballKid: just don't want you to get any ideas.
EyeballKid: being a new yorker, you may not be familiar with my west coast jargon.
Trizzy: oh yeah, cuz i always have THOSE ideas - what kind of harlot do you think i am?
EyeballKid: i had a dream i was in ny last night.
EyeballKid: trying to find a bridge.
EyeballKid: on a bus.
Trizzy: really?
Trizzy: even weirder
EyeballKid: yeah.
Trizzy: last night, my friend had a dream that i asked for a raise at work
EyeballKid: you should.
EyeballKid: but have a long martini lunch first.
Trizzy: hey, what bridge were you looking for, btw?
EyeballKid: i don't remember.
EyeballKid: oh yeah. i still have to burn your cds.
EyeballKid: and print covers.
EyeballKid: /me sighs
Trizzy: you're making me happy
Trizzy: something ELSE to look forward to
EyeballKid: yeah?
EyeballKid: /me reconsiders
Trizzy: you're so mean to me
Trizzy: should i read into the fact that my ex continues to send me cheesy forwards?
EyeballKid: he hates you?
EyeballKid: i always consider fwd'ed emails a sign of contempt
Trizzy: really?
Trizzy: he sends me sappy forwards
EyeballKid: i'm pretty sure aaron's wife hates me, considering i get them from her everyday.
Trizzy: lol
EyeballKid: and my mom.
Trizzy: my mom sends me prayers
Trizzy: that end with the chain letter threat--- god bless you. if you don't forward this, you will go to hell. EyeballKid: my mom sends me political rants.
EyeballKid: liberal, but still.
EyeballKid: ahh. yeah. that's a whole other pile o' crap.

Let's play Twixter!

Interesting article in TIME came out this week that Augusto sent my way... I guess that I'm an older Twixter!
HEADLINE: Grow Up? Not So Fast;MEET THE TWIXTERS. THEY'RE NOT KIDS ANYMORE, BUT THEY'RE NOT ADULTS EITHER. WHY A NEW BREED OF YOUNG PEOPLE WON'T--OR CAN'T?--SETTLE DOWN
Is there any comfort that there are plenty of us out there??? It seems like it's an older age range here in the city... Speaking of not growing up... maybe I should consider a move back in with the parentals????!!! Maybe NOT. But I am running back to Cali next weekend for some much needed TLC and to visit one of my best friends from St. Gen's, Heather, who just had some extensive back surgery. It's also my dad's bday, and we're planning to spend the day in Palm Springs... a welcome break from the snow here!
